Why?

Everybody needs Esperanzah!

Esperanzah! is a Festival that makes possible, through the culture and the reflection, that many people know, learn, share and enjoy debates about topics which affect us all (such as the food sovereignty, the climate justice, the right to work, the refusal to Eurovegas project or the Xarxem el Delta). A place where new relationships, new friendships are being made, new methods for taking action against what worries us or what motivates us are being discovered and, at the same time, a place that makes us enjoy the best universal music.
Esperanzah! is not just a festival, it is more than that, it is The Festival. A sustainable festival in all senses, where everybody has place in it: children, youths, adults, pregnant women, persons with reduced mobility, and elderly people. A Festival that is self-managed with the collaboration of volunteers, musicians, technicians, workers…

Reaching to the 5th edition of the festival has been a hard work and dreams of many people, efforts and resources have got stuck in the way. That is why it is also important to try it again and again and because of all that effort, it is certain that at some stage the festival will get its reward. ;).

In moments we live in, guaranteeing the access to the culture for everybody and starting to build new models of community construction around it, are elements of vital importance.

Finally, it is important to enhance the potential of an event like Esperanzah! in creating and distributing employment. It is not a stable employment as it is a festival and it takes what it takes, but the 80% of the festival’s budget for this 2013 (30.213€), will be dedicated to create employment in a direct or indirect way. And just the 20% will go to technical line, amortizations and financial charges. Many of them are managed through companies and entities of social economy as Coop57 and Arcs Cooperative.
